Thien Cung grotto – Paradise cave
It is located in the north of Dau Go about 4 km form the Tourist wharf. Thien Cung cave was found in 1993. This is one of the largest and most beautiful grottoes in Ha Long bay. It’s deviced into chambers containing many richly ornamented stalactites and stalagmites.
It’s situated on Dau Go island, about 300m from Thien Cung grotto. The attractive and significant beauty of the cave is its ancient and mossy appearance. The French called it “Grotto des Merveils“, in English means “Grotto of Wonders”. In October, 1957 President Ho Chi Minh visited the cave and said: “No visitor can convey the beauty of this cave. Everybody therefore must visit the cave to see its beaty themselves”. In 1919 Khai Dinh King under Nguyen dynasty paid a visit and wrote a poem that was then carved on the stone stele to praise this cave’s beauty. Inside the caves, there is a ferry well and wide range of interesting shapes of stalactites and stalagmites.
