Vietnam Rehearses Grand Parade for 50th Reunification Anniversary
On the morning of April 27, a full rehearsal for the national-level parade commemorating the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025) took place on Le Duan Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. This marked a key preparatory milestone ahead of the official celebration on April 30.
The rehearsal followed two days of intensive training and a preliminary state-level run-through. Present at the event were leaders from central ministries, Ho Chi Minh City authorities, armed forces, and large crowds of citizens.
The event began with a cultural performance, followed by a solemn flag-raising ceremony at the main stage on Le Duan Street. Simultaneously, 21 ceremonial cannon rounds were fired at Bach Dang Wharf as the national anthem played.
The program continued with formal introductions of Party and State leaders, both domestic and international delegates. Speeches were delivered by high-ranking Party and State officials, veterans of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, and youth representatives.
The parade featured participation from 23 military and militia divisions, 13 police units, 12 civilian marching blocks, four ceremonial formations, and military contingents from China, Laos, and Cambodia.
Alongside ground forces, aerial units including helicopters and fighter jets contributed to the rehearsal. Helicopters flying from Bien Hoa Airport carried Party and national flags over the city, while fighter jets performed aerobatic maneuvers and flares.
To facilitate the rehearsal, traffic was restricted in downtown Ho Chi Minh City from 3:00 AM to noon. Security forces, including police, military, and mobile units, were mobilized to ensure public safety and traffic order.
Despite the early hours, thousands of spectators gathered overnight along central roads to witness the event, including many visitors who traveled long distances for this once-in-a-generation experience.
The official celebration is scheduled for 6:30 AM on April 30 on Le Duan Street and surrounding areas, featuring a military parade, civilian march, cannon salutes, and an aerial display.
Preparations and rehearsals have been carried out professionally and intensively, promising a grand and emotional national celebration that will inspire patriotism, unity, and a shared aspiration for peace.
