Cat Ba island, Cat Ba from cultural viewpoints
There are now many historical – cultural heritages proving that cultural tradition of locality is really diversified and plentiful. Nghia Lo village has still preserved the temple which worships the woman giving birth to Hung Son brave man who deserved credit for fighting against An invaders at the 6th Hung King
Besides, Cat Ba town temples to Women who deserve credit for fighting against Northern invaders. Although these temples are now no longer, they still prove historical tradition in this land.
In addition, a part of stone wall built under Mac dynasty in the 16th century is still kept.
On April 1st 1959 Cat Ba people were honoured to welcome Uncle Ho’s visit. Uncle Ho visited fishing village in the land, talked with local people and fishermen in the village. To celebrate this event, on every April 1st, Cat Ba people formally organize the festival ” Uncle Ho visits fishing villag”. This date also become a traditional day of aquaculture and seafood industry of Vietnam. When toursim has been increasingly developed, the fist day of April is also chosen to be opening day of tourism season in Cat Ba
